i LOVE a good deal

Lately I've been a little obsessed with checking deal sites.  Here are a few or more than a few of my favorites.

Brad's Deal - This site posts links to the best online deals and its updated throughout the day.

Woot - This site has a random daily deal, kids daily deal, shirt daily deal and wine or wine related daily deal.

Target Daily Deals - Target normally has 5 daily deals and they ship for free.

These next few sites offer great deals on dining out, entertainment, and other services in select cities.  For those of you that don't live in a city that is currently listed on the site, both Groupon and Living Social sometimes offer online offers.  Recently I've gotten a $20 Amazon gift certificate for $10, a $20 Barnes & Noble gift certificate for $10 (can be used online or in the store), a $30 Bath & Body Works gift certificate for $15 and two movie tickets through Fandago for $9.

Here are a few good sites for finding designer items for discounted prices, often for 50-75% off retail price.  Great for finding something for yourself, your home, your kids or a gift for someone else!  They also offer reduced prices at some pretty fancy hotels.

Also, before you order anything online check ebates.com to see if the store you are ordering from is listed on their site.  If you go through the store's link on the ebates site, you can earn cash back.  A few of my favorites on the site are:  Target, Nordstroms, Kate Spade & Groupon.  The list goes on, they have hundreds of websites.  The cash you earn back is usually around 3-5%, but I've seen some for higher than 20%.




Eyeglasses - I recently bought an extra pair of prescription glasses through this site for under $30.  All I needed was my prescription (it didn't even need to be a recent prescription).  This isn't a daily deals website, just an affordable place to buy glasses from.

A little tip for you - If you are heading on vacation soon, check out the city you are visiting on some of these sites.  You can probably find some good deals for eating out, activities and hotels.

The Shower Curtain

I got my shower curtain hung up and I love it!  I ordered the Ming Floral shower curtain from World Market a couple weeks ago.  I just looked and it's sold out, at least it is online, maybe they still have it in the stores.  I like all the colors in it!  Black, grey, lime green, green, turquoise and white!  I think a couple of them would make fun curtains.  It's a 100% cotton and the material actually feels more like a curtain (window treatment) than a shower curtain.

Here's a close up.  The wrinkles should go away after a few days of showering in there.

It All Started With A New Shower Curtain

We've lived in our house for a year and a half and this past weekend I finally got around to painting a room, our master bathroom.  It all started with a new shower curtain.  I finally found one, I love!  At least I hope I do, I haven't hung it up yet.  The colors in the new shower curtain don't work well with beige.  So, I had to chose to paint the ceiling and walls to better match the shower curtain.

Here's a picture of what our bathroom looked like the day we moved in, before painting the trim and doors, replacing the light fixture and cabinet knobs.

And here is the shower curtain we had, yes it does say Roxy on it.  I'm a little embarrassed to say I was 29 with a Roxy shower curtain.  I'm sure my husband wasn't too thrilled with it either.  I swear when I looked at the picture on the package when I bought it, it didn't show the Roxy logo on it.  I do like the colors in it though.

I painted our ceilings Bistro White, the same color I used on all our doors and trim.  Luckily we had enough paint left over from that project to paint the ceiling.  And check out yesterday's post to find out how to get a free Valspar paint sample.

I chose a light grey color, silver anniversary, for the walls.  I went with the mold and mildew proof paint that is recommended for bathrooms.  I took advantage of the "Bag Sale" at Ace on Saturday and saved 20% on my entire purchase.

Side note - I also bribed Parker with the free popcorn at Ace to get him to agree to go.  Not that he had a choice, but it made for a more enjoyable shopping trip.

Silver Anniversary

Here are a couple after shots.  It looks a little blue, but its light grey.  I really like it and it lightens the room up quite a bit.

I haven't had a chance to hang the new shower curtain yet, I'm giving the a paint a couple days to cure before I hang up the new shower rod and curtain.  You'll have to check back tomorrow to see how it looks.  Super suspenseful, I know.

Chalkboard Vases

I've been wanting to try chalkboard paint for a while now and I finally got the chance to.  A little over a week ago, it warmed up a little, so I could do a little painting in the garage.  I chose to use the chalkboard spray paint, it seemed like an easier option for my first chalkboard project.  You can use the paint on almost any surface.  It worked on recycled wine and champagne bottles.  You need a couple coats of paint and you need to let it dry for 24 hours before you can use chalk on the surface.

They are kind of cool and would be fun for a party.  However, it is kind of hard to draw/write on a round object.  I think the next time I use chalkboard paint it will be on a flat service.

Now, it just needs to warm up so I can work on some other projects.  It was -20 this morning!  (Yes, thats a negative before the 20)  Brrrr!  You can't paint when its cold.  Come on Mother Nature, I'm getting a little impatient.  I'm ready for some warm weather!

Prosecco Thursday

While perusing the aisles of CVS today looking for a bottle of Champagne for tonight, I decided we would try a bottle of Prosecco.  The La Marca Prosecco label caught my eye, I liked the blue color and it was voted one of the "Top 100 Wines of the Year" by Wine Spectator.  La Marca is the only Prosecco producer to be awarded this honor.  And in case any of you are wondering, it was $13.

What we will be trying tonight

The description from the back of the bottle, "Grown in Italy, the Prosecco grape is cherished for its expressiveness.  This sparkling wine offers a fresh and vibrant bouquet of golden apple, white peach and honeysuckle."

Prosecco	Champagne
