Chris and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary on January 8th. The traditional 5th year anniversary gift is wood, so instead of gifts, we decided to stay in a wood cabin. I got a great deal on
Groupon for a two night stay at
Gaynor's River Bend Ranch, in Whitefish, MT, so that's where we headed for the weekend, with our two boys.
We had a great weekend, in our cozy little cabin. Parker stayed in the blue room (picture below) and loved it. He kept showing Chris and I his room and pointing out his bed, his nightstand, his lamps, his clock, his Kleenex, etc. He also had fun climbing up the ladder to the loft.
Chris and I got to relax in the hot tub both nights. We could see the front door of the cabin from the hot tub and we had the baby monitor with us, so the kiddos were safe. Although, I was super paranoid the second night, I heard some sort of animal and I was convinced it was going to come and attack us. It was probably just a horse, but to my knowledge all of the horses were on the other side of the ranch, so who knows. Plus, it was dark, we couldn't see anything and we were in the middle of nowhere. I wanted to get back in the cabin!
Saturday morning we enjoyed a yummy, late breakfast at
Loula's Cafe and then headed to the Public Beach, so Parker could get some rock throwing in. That boy loves to throw rocks! We had the whole beach to ourselves, probably not too unexpected since it was a pretty chilly day.
Parker enjoyed the horses and the dogs at the ranch, there must have been 7 dogs. He probably would have had more fun in warmer weather, there were a couple teepee's and a play house he could have played in.
Saturday night, we headed to the
Great Northern Brewery and shared a $5 pitcher. We didn't drink it all, but it was cheaper than two pints. Parker enjoyed a special glass full of Root Beer. Afterwards, we headed to
Pescado Blanco for a less than enjoyable dinner. The food was good, but our boys were not cooperating, so we headed back to our cozy cabin for a relaxing night.
Happy Champagne Thursday!
Cheers!
