Tray Makeovers

Quite a while ago, a year or so ago, I bought a couple trays from Target on clearance.  One was a Valentines tray and I can't remember where I found the other one in store.  I finally took the time to make them over and dress them up.  With a few coats primer, spray paint and protective gloss these trays are ready for Summer!

I primed both of the trays with a white Rust-Oleum primer.  Then I used a few coats of the Rust-Oleum Sun Yellow spray paint and topped it off with a couple coats of Rust-Oleum Clear Gloss finish.  After allowing it to dry and set for a couple days, I brought it inside and got it ready for some refreshing drinks.  It's kind of similar to the trays West Elm sells for around $60.  I think I bought the tray for around $3 and I already had the spray paint from other projects.  Its bright, happy and perfect for Summer!

The next tray I used the same primer and gloss, but used Krylon Blue Ocean Breeze Spray Paint.  It was the spray paint I used for this mirror.  Then I thought it would be fun to add something fun to the bottom of the tray.  I cut a piece of cardboard to fit into the bottom of the tray, then hot glued some fabric around the cardboard and placed it in the tray.  The  fabric covered cardboard can be removed if needed.  It's not secured to the tray.  Right now its corralling all of our sunscreen, bug spray, sunglasses, etc.  We usually leave all of that stuff out in the Summer, so its easy to remember to use and to find.
