Magazine Clean Up

I love Magazines!  They are one my guilty pleasures.  It's pretty cheap entertainment, especially when you have a subscription.  Anyways, when you have a quite a few subscriptions like I do, magazines tend to pile up rather quickly.  I probably had a stack close to three feet high (should have taken a picture).  They were taking up too much space, so I decided to go through them and get rid of (recycle) them.  Over the course of a week, I went through all of them and tore out ideas, articles, recipes, etc that I wanted to keep and organized them into a file folder.  My goal is to tear out pages the first time I look through a magazine so they don't start piling up again.

A few of my favorite magazines

The ONE and ONLY magazine I kept

Ideas, articles, recipes, etc. that made the cut

Takes up a fraction of the space of all those magazines

A few of my favorite subscriptions:
Better Homes & Gardens (1-year) - $6 - Awesome deal!

Cheers!

  2. I've been tearing out pages from my mags for years. It's such a good idea, and if I had my own bathroom, I would make a special binder for bathroom reading. ;)

  4. How can something that brings us so much joy every month {or four times a year depending on the magazine} be such a bane to our cluttered existance? : ) I love my decorating magazines, too, and I try to go through them monthly to keep things from getting out of hand. I like to keep certain ones though for my business. It makes it easier if I have a client that says I like "French" and I have French Country magazine on hand. Everything else either goes to my Mom or recycling.

  5. I have an idea book I paste all my scrapbook/magazine pages into ... I make notes and draw circles and arrows all over that book. I like seeing how my taste changes over the years!

    Good job on purging!

  6. Tearing them out the first time you look through the magazine is a great idea though I always think I will go back and really read the articles but never do!

  7. I am a magazine JUNKIE! I love my decorating magazines. I do tear sheets too, but sadly only about once a year. I am so overdue to do this!

  8. HEY!
I got inspired by this yesterday (please excuse my delayed reply!) put down my netbook and went to my magazine stash, and I went through my magazines, too!
Pulled out pages and cute things I liked.
Funny how we get attached to certain ones and we won't tear them apart, LOL!
My Cottage Living mags(no longer in print) are like that-I never decimated them ;) and still have all of them!
Thank you so much for coming to the Purge Party!
I love meeting new ladies and learning from you as we do home making together!
    HUGS and blessings to you!
Come back to my home anytime!
